The show time is still TBD. The venue is great and I hope you can all make it out. And yes, this show is in honor of the fact that summer doesn’t end until we say so.
So last Saturday’s show at the Underground was solid. Thanks to all who made it out. I debuted a few new tracks and folks were definitely entertained. At this point, I’ve road tested just about all of the upcoming album’s tracks. Let’s hope that one of my summer shows turns out to be a CD release party.
I made it out to a Flaming Lips show last week. These guys know how to put on a show. The next show I play will be a tribute to them. I’m beginning to understand that the live show needs to be a completely separate experience from the music. This may seem strange, but it occured to me as I and 1000+ other fans were completely enthralled by unfamiliar tracks that often exceeded the 12 minute mark. Of course we swooned uncontrollably at favorites like Yoshima and the like. But in the end, the most memorable were the confetti guns, giant hamster ball and enormous lazer hands. I guess these guys have been busting out scaled down versions of these antics since the good old days in OK. It makes me wonder what I’ve been waiting for over the past few years. Its about time to step it up.
Note: I’ve been meaning to post this picture since then. Unfortuntely, the sedentary life has gotten the best of me. No more.
I just sat down a few hours ago to count up all the tracks I have ready to be recorded. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that I now have 11 songs. That means that the full length album is a definite. That means I can no longer use the excuse that I’m writing too much to record. I’ve gotta shift gears if I expect to play a cd release show at the end of August. Recording 11 songs wont be easy, but it’s happening. Check back soon for another update. And send your feedback about the site. It’s still in the beta version but should be improving daily.
